Privacy Policy

This policy explains what information BuildBid collects, how we use it, and the rights you have over your data. BuildBid is a construction bidding marketplace operating in the Philippines.

1. 1. Information We Collect

   When you create an account we collect your name, email address, role (contractor or supplier), and the company details you choose to share — including your service area, business registration, and verification documents.

   As you use BuildBid we collect the projects you post, the quotes you submit, messages you send, ratings you give, and the activity needed to run the marketplace (logins, page views, and device information).

2. 2. How We Use It

   We use your information to match contractors with suppliers, deliver sealed quotes, send notifications about your projects, verify suppliers, prevent fraud, and improve the service.

   We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your private messages or sealed quotes for advertising.

3. 3. Sealed Quote Confidentiality

   Sealed quotes are the core of BuildBid. While bidding is open, no supplier can see another supplier's price, breakdown, or delivery terms — and BuildBid does not disclose them.

   A contractor sees competing quotes only on their own project, and only for the purpose of awarding work. We enforce this separation at the database level so quotes stay private by default.

4. 4. Data Storage & Supabase

   BuildBid runs on Supabase, which hosts our database, authentication, and file storage. Your data is stored on Supabase's managed infrastructure and protected by row-level security policies that limit each account to the records it is allowed to see.

   Passwords are never stored in plain text — authentication is handled by Supabase using salted, hashed credentials.

5. 5. Cookies & Local Storage

   We use cookies and your browser's local storage to keep you signed in, remember your role and preferences, and keep the app working between visits.

   These are essential to the service. We do not use third-party advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

6. 6. Sharing

   We share information only as needed to run the marketplace: a supplier's public profile and rating are visible to contractors, and a contractor's project details are visible to suppliers who can quote on it.

   We may share data with service providers who operate the platform on our behalf (such as Supabase for hosting), or where required by Philippine law, a lawful order, or to protect the rights and safety of our users.

7. 7. Your Rights under the Philippine Data Privacy Act

   Under Republic Act No. 10173 (the Data Privacy Act of 2012), you have the right to be informed about how your data is processed, to access and obtain a copy of your data, to correct inaccurate data, to object to processing, to have your data erased or blocked, and to be indemnified for damages from unlawful processing.

8. 8. Retention

   We keep your information for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the service, resolve disputes, and meet legal and tax obligations.

   When data is no longer required, we delete or anonymize it. You may request deletion of your account at any time, subject to records we are legally required to retain.

9. 9. Security

   We protect your data with encryption in transit, row-level access controls, and managed authentication. No system is perfectly secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security — but we work to keep your information safe and to notify you of incidents as required by law.
